During his fellowship, Dr. Walter was a co-investigator of the first and largest LASIK study in the United States, and has performed over 8,000 LASIK procedures since he began in 1995. Dr. Walter was also the first in his field to conduct research and adjust for humidity to improve LASIK outcomes. In addition, he has authored several articles related to LASIK surgery and his ground breaking research has been featured in multiple nationally syndicated publications including the New York Times, Time Magazine, Men's Health Magazine, Shape Magazine, LA Times and on CNN. Dr. Walter has performed LASIK on numerous physicians and surgeons including cardiologists, heart surgeons, neurosurgeons, pediatricians, anesthesiologists, internists, and fellow ophthalmologists and LASIK surgeons. He has also completed LASIK surgery on TV personalities and NASCAR drivers. Dr. Walter had LASIK surgery himself in 1999 and is still seeing 20/15 today.

Dr. Walter has performed over 13,000 cataract surgeries during his career. He currently offers the most advanced technology available, including advanced laser cataract removal and the use of premium artificial lens implants, eliminating the need for glasses post surgery by allowing patients to focus accurately at all distances. Additionally, Dr. Walter’s research on post cataract surgery inflammation has yielded results that simplify and improve the recovery process for patients.

Dr. Walter also devotes a portion of his practice to cornea diseases and transplantation. His desire to improve corneal transplant surgery lead him to invent and develop the EndoSerter™ Corneal Endothelium Delivery Instrument. This device is FDA approved and is distributed in nearly 40 countries worldwide, allowing eye surgeons to insert corneal donor tissue without damaging or crushing the cellular tissue. Dr. Walter has four additional patent applications pending before the United States Patent Office.
