Dr. Keith Walter, Assistant Professor of Surgical Sciences – Ophthalmology Keith A. Walter, MD is a board certified ophthalmologist specializing in cornea and refractive surgery. Dr. Walter received his medical training at Duke University, and completed his Ophthalmology residency and fellowship at Emory University. During his fellowship he was a Co-investigator of the first and largest LASIK investigation in the United States, and has been
performing LASIK since 1995. Dr. Walter joined the faculty at Wake Forest University School of Medicine in 1996. Dr. Walter has authored several articles related to LASIK surgery and his ground breaking research has been featured in the New York Times, Time Magazine, Men’s Health Magazine, Shape Magazine, LA times and CNN. He was the first to adjust for humidity to improve LASIKoutcomes, based on this research.
Dr. Walter has done numerous physicians and surgeons in the area including cardiologists, heart surgeons, neurosurgeons, pediatricians, anesthesiologists, internists, and even an ophthalmologist. He has also done surgery on local news anchors and NASCAR drivers. Dr. Walter had LASIK surgery himself in 1999 and is still seeing 20/15 today.
